The Powerflushing Process

How does a power flush work?

Clean

We attach our specialised pump to one end of your central heating, circulating cleaning chemicals to dislodge any built-up sludge.

Flush

We take the pump to each radiator individually, then flush out the contents until only fresh, clean water remains.

Dispose

The contaminated water extracted from your radiators and pipes is disposed of safely, usually via an outdoor drain.

Protect

Your heating system is treated with corrosion inhibitor, then checked for the correct pressure and balanced, if needed.

We used Josh recently to install our new boiler. We found him to be professional, courteous and reliable. The service provided was in line with our expectations and if we had any issues they were fixed promptly. The work was done in a timely way, there was no mess and the rubbish was removed. The paperwork was clear and explained the process for setting up the boiler and ongoing maintenance. We are happy to recommend him to anyone looking for a Gas registered service in Southampton.

FAQ

Common Radiator Powerflushing Questions

If your radiator is cold at the bottom, this is usually due to a build-up of sludge or debris. This will generally sink to the bottom and cause cold spots.

If you have multiple radiators with this issue, the best solution would be a central heating powerflush, which will clear out the whole system in one go.

If there is just a single radiator with the issue, this can be isolated and removed, then manually flushed.

Yes you can. However, it can be an involving process.

You would need to isolate the radiator, drain the water out and then find a way to run water through every corner of it.

Unfortunately, this won’t help with any sludge in your pipes or other radiators.

Our powerflush also uses specialised chemicals, designed to dislodge the types of dirt, sludge or rust found in central heating systems.

In most circumstances the answer is no. However in some very old or poorly maintained heating systems it may reveal existing weaknesses and corrosion.

We will always check the condition of your pipes and radiators before commencing a powerflush, then inform you of any concerns we may have.

Although it is difficult to know the exact condition of your radiator and pipe inside surfaces, there are some tell-tale signs:

  • Brown water when you bleed the radiators
  • Cold spots at the bottom of a radiator
  • Radiators are slow to heat up
  • Unusual sounds from the central heating
  • Regular errors on the boiler that require resetting

If you are unsure, contact us and we can make a telephone diagnosis.
